Homeopathy was founded in 1796 by Samuel Hahneman, a medical physician and chemist. He set out to find a way of healing diseases in a more holistic and gentle way, without the often drastic side effects of the medicines and methods of that time.
Homeopathy evolved from naturopathic principles:
• treat the whole person
• nature heals, providing it is given the opportunity to do so
• support the body's own inner healing ability
• do no harm
Homeopathy works in a different way to conventional medicine as it recognises the body’s innate intelligent self-healing mechanism. It works to strengthen this mechanism by using minute doses of individually selected medicines to help stimulate a healing reaction in the patient.
This can result in less need for common ‘over the counter’ pharmaceutical drugs as well as support with more chronic and enduring conditions.
Homeopathy and the NHS
For patients who also require conventional medical treatment, homeopathy can be safely used in conjunction, as there are no contra-indications.
Homeopathy can be used to help with:
• most physical, mental and emotional complaints
• a lowered immune system, feeling ‘run down’ or low in energy
• recovery from specific conditions e.g. irritable bowel syndrome, joint problems, menstrual disorders, sports injuries, recurrent infections, childhood illnesses
• depression and anxiety, arising from e.g. bereavement, stress or trauma
• a range of skin conditions

What to expect in your first session?
If you choose to have a homeopathic consultation, during our first session I’ll ask you to describe in detail what it is you are looking for help with.
I’ll ask questions about your general health, medical history and family’s medical history, how you are affected by your environment, the weather, the seasons and food, and anything else that is particular and unique to you. I’ll also ask you about the sort of person you are.
As you give me your history, I'll be looking for patterns, feelings and sensations individual to you, as well as any events that may have significantly affected your health.
Our first session will be particularly in-depth and thorough, as I begin to gain an understanding of you and the help you’re looking for.
After this session, I will either give you a remedy there and then or send it to you afterwards once I've had time to reflect on your case.
Please get in touch to discuss how I can help you
How long does it take?
Improvement can start within minutes of taking the correctly chosen homeopathic remedy, especially in acute conditions.
With more chronic, longer-term complaints, you'll often need to come over a longer period of time. For example, appointments might be at two-to-four week intervals for the first three or four sessions. After which, depending on progress, we will discuss adjusting the frequency of appointments.
