Naturopathy, Nutrition and lifestyle counselling
The philosophy of Naturopathy is based upon two basic principles. The first is that the body possesses the power to heal itself through its internal vitality and intelligence, All the practitioner does is to support the person to create the most favorable conditions to stimulate and enhance this healing power of the body.
I trained with the
Nutritional Healing Foundation , which teaches a naturopathic approach to nutritional therapy based on the philosophy of the cell, i.e. we are all made up of trillions of cells, all of which are programmed to repair, heal and grow. Our lifestyle, way of eating, stress, how we take care of ourselves all impact on our internal cellular environment, when our internal environment is well we are well. Ever wondered why some people get ill when exposed to others with flu or colds and some dont? its all about this environment that's why.
If you choose to start with a nutritional approach to your particular problem, we look at this in the context of this philosophy, taking into account hereditary factors, and your patterns of health & illness from conception to now. Recommendations may include therapeutic diet plans, some general naturopathic principles concerning nutrition, techniques and purposeful supplementation.
Many clients have asked me for nutritional advice, and now having completed the advanced practitioner diploma I feel qualified to support people in this way. It also feels like a natural extension of my Homeopathic practice, the two approaches having their roots in similar principles. They can be used separately or alongside each other:
To establish health and wellness
To respond to each person with their individual needs
Prevention is better than cure
Identifying and treating the cause
Working with the innate healing ability of the body
Nature has healing powers, being in tune with natural cyclesYou may want to talk to me about which approach would be best for you to start with, we can for example start with nutritional healing and once that is established, look at homeopathy for you, or visa verca. The following examples are meant to give you an idea of the sorts of things that Naturopathy can help with:
Supporting recovery from both acute and chronic illness's
Supporting recovery from surgery & dentistry (works very well in conjunction
with Homeopathic treatment)
Support with digestive disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome, and other problems
in this system
Support with hormonal imbalences e.g. menstrual irregularity & excessive pain, or
periods of change/transition e.g. puberty & menopause
Muscle and joint pain & chronic fatigue syndromes
Support with blood sugar issues,
Skin conditions
Weight management; to support you to achieve whats healthy for you
(using the body mass index calculator IBM)
"I was 49, approaching menopause with very irregular periods. I had never had a problem with my weight till then, or with feeling tired so easily. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to lose a few kilo’s in 3 months just by a few relatively small changes in my way of eating and lifestyle. I felt encouraged to continue and now after 9 months have lost a total of 6 kilo’s and most importantly its staying off! I’m now back to a healthier weight for my size, I have more energy again and feel loads better" AJ East Sussex
