Homeopathy explained |
 |
 |
History Founded by Samuel Hahneman, a physician and chemist in Germany, in early part 19th Century. It evolved from naturopathic principles: treat the whole person Nature heals, providing it is given the opportunity to do so support the body's own inner healing ability do no harm
How does Homeopathy differ from NHS medicine? Homeopathy recognises the body’s innate intelligent self healing mechanism. Works to strengthen this by using minute doses of individually selected medicines The individually selected prescription stimulates a healing reaction in the patient Can be used alongside treatment from your Doctor, there are no contra-indications
What can Homeopathy be used for? As there are no toxic side effects, It can be used by anyone of any age for most physical, mental and emotional complaints For feeling ‘run down’, low in energy, lowered immune system functioning Can support you to recover from specific conditions e.g. Irritable bowel syndrome, joint problems, menstrual disorders, sports injuries, recurrent infections, childhood illness’s and many other conditions by strengthening your innate natural healing ability Helpful with emotional states such as those arising from bereavement, stress, trauma of any kind e.g. depression and anxiety is well known for its benefits in treating a whole range of skin conditions
For more in depth information on homeopathy and how it can help please go to the Society of Homeopaths website, see link at bottom of page
How long does it take? Improvement can start within minutes of taking the correctly chosen remedy, especially in acute conditions. With more chronic, longer term complaints, such as relapsing infections, sleep difficulties, menstrual disorders, or depression, then a course of treatment is recommended with appointments at 2 - 4 weekly intervals for the first three or four sessions, after which the frequency of appointments will be discussed and decided on the basis of progress.
